A very special combination of winter weather conditions during the early morning hours before dawn, has changed yesterday's barren forest into a morning wonderland of white lace on a background of an intense clear blue sky. This phenomenon is known as hoarfrost or rim-ice. This image was photographed in the Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina.
