Description
The Scarp Gallery is a narrow, hallway like area built into three sides of the outer wall of the Fort. It is used for soldiers with small weapons to protect the Fort from attack by enemy solder on the ground. Fort Barrancas was built in the mid 1800's as part of the Coastal Artillery Defense System. The fort is a National Park, is a part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore, and is located inside the grounds of the U.S. Naval Air Station in Pensacola Florida.
